Sensory Friendly Performance
The Wednesday, May 12 at 10:30 am in-person, outdoor performance of The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show / La Oruga Muy Hambrienta Espectáculo is sensory friendly. Here are a few of the adjustments that we’ve made to the experience.
* The actors will introduce themselves at the beginning of the show, so the audience will know their names and what roles they play.
* The sound levels will be reduced in select moments of the show.
* Audience members can view the social story before the show. This wonderful document was developed by Metro Theater Company’s Education Team. The narrative and images help audience members know what to expect from the check-in process, the show itself, the performance space and areas like the restrooms and stroller parking, the Q&A after the show, and how to depart at the end of the event.
Our sensory friendly performance is designed for audience members who are autistic, neurodivergent, have sensory sensitivities, or would benefit from a performance with quieter sound elements.
