Job Type: 36 WEEK FULL-TIME, Seasonal

Salary: $16,000

Position Overview:  

Metro Theater Company seeks a highly-qualified, energetic, emerging professional in the field of Theater for Young Audiences for a Teaching Artist Fellowship during the 2026-2027 season. Defined by creativity, flexibility, collaboration, and frontline community engagement, Metro Theater Company’s excellence is recognized nationally. The Teaching Artist Fellow will work closely with Metro Theater Company’s Associate Education Director to plan curriculum and to teach in a wide variety of PreK-12 programs in school and community settings. As an emerging professional, the Teaching Artist Fellow will gain valuable professional experience working alongside a small, highly-skilled staff in a dynamic, creative environment. Interest and experience in arts integration and/or Theater for Social Change a plus. Previous practical experience teaching creative drama, theater, and/or other arts disciplines to young people or a bachelor’s degree in theater arts or a related field required.

Teaching Artist 

Position: Teaching Artist

Reports to: Associate Education Director

Job Type: Part-Time, Hourly

Compensation: $20/hour for training and planning time, $50/hour for teaching

Position Overview:   

Metro Theater Company is seeking enthusiastic, empathetic, and social justice minded teaching artists to teach our flagship education program: Building Community Through Drama (BCTD). 

BCTD is expanding into 4th and 5th grade classrooms in multiple districts throughout St. Louis County. The program consists of 5 sessions (45-60 minutes in length) in individual classrooms during the school day. The curriculum is developed and continues to evolve to meet the needs of our school partners. Through a co-teaching model, teaching artists will facilitate community building activities, theatre games, role playing activities, and lead reflection discussions. The curriculum explores social and emotional learning, develops empathy, and investigates historical and current instances of bullying and oppression. 

Building Community Through Drama is currently underwritten by St. Louis County Children’s Service Fund.
