Rosemary Newcott, Director of Metro Theater Company’s production of In My Granny’s Garden shared, “No one is more deserving of the Dramatists Guild Lifetime Achievement Award. Pearl Cleage’s plays are lyrical and riveting and always explore truths in ways that are both revelatory and entertaining. It has been my great honor to know her and to be present for all of her Alliance world premieres. I have also been blessed to direct some of her work for young audiences… most recently a play based on a delightful picture book, In My Granny’s Garden, penned by Pearl and her husband, Zaron Burnett Jr. Congratulations to Pearl! So well deserved.”
