Metro Theater Company Emeritus Board Member Ken Jones is a co-chair and sponsor of our June gala After Dark! We asked Ken a few questions about his experiences with Metro Theater Company, the arts, and what inspires him. Join us in thanking Ken for his leadership, insight, and generous support!
How are you connected to Metro Theater Company?
I was invited to join the Board of Directors by Ellen Livingston. And when I met Carol North, Nick Kryah, and Joan Briccetti, I was so impressed and inspired that I had to say yes. I gladly served for 10 years, and was honored to join the Emeritus Board.
What do you love about Metro Theater Company’s work?
I think the company’s mission statement says it best: “Inspired by the intelligence and emotional wisdom of young people, we create professional theater, foster inclusive community, and nurture meaningful learning through the arts.”
Why do you go to the theater?
Live theater and dramatic arts explore and reflect all that is good and bad and hopeful in human society with an immediacy and vibrancy that other art forms cannot do.
How have the arts changed you or the young people in your life?
The arts have always been a part of my life, and help me in understanding, appreciating, and participating more worthily in my life.
What are you inspired by?
I am inspired by kindness, generosity, patience, and humility. I keep trying to improve those traits in my own life. The arts help guide me.
