In Solidarity
Metro Theater Company exists to support our community, empowering young people to achieve their fullest potential and cultivating hope that by inspiring our next generation to be more empathetic and creative thinkers we create a brighter future for us all.
No person should feel less than any other by virtue of the color of their skin, the languages spoken in their homes, their nation of birth, or their family’s heritage. No person should be treated differently for these reasons. No person should live in fear for their safety for these reasons. And certainly no person should die for these reasons. When any one of us is targeted because of race or national origin, we are all harmed; we are all weakened.
For this reason and many more, we at MTC stand in solidarity with our Asian American and Pacific Islander friends, neighbors, and colleagues in the wake of terrible recent events in Atlanta. We recognize that this hate crime is simply a symptom of a larger, pervasive problem of systemized discrimination, stereotyping, scapegoating, and white supremacy which begins with the earliest days of our nation. We commit to doing our part to dismantle these systems in our work and in our community and we invite you to do the same.
