A playful summer returns!

Whether it’s playing with storytelling through movement or music at Creative Arts Camp, or learning how to audition for a play at Grand Theater Camp, MTC’s professional teaching artists bring fun and growth through the arts to campers of all ages. From the multidisciplinary nature of Creative Arts Camp to the use of university-level facilities at Grand Theater Camp, Metro Theater Company, in collaboration with its summer camp partners, offers engaging camps all summer long!

Grades listed below refer to the grade your child will be entering in Fall 2024. Middle school and high school camps are presented in partnership with Summer at SLU. Creative Arts Camp is presented in partnership with New City School.

Metro Theater Company will follow protocols put in place by its partner organizations–Saint Louis University and New City School. If Metro Theater Company implements additional COVID-19 mitigation measures outside of those put in place by its partner organizations, a separate email will be sent to families prior to the start of camp.

Grand Theater Camp:
Intro to Acting

 

Campers entering 6th through 8th grade in Fall 2024
Mon-Fri, June 3-7, 9 am to 4 pm
Mon-Fri, June 10-14, 9 am to 4 pm
Locations: Saint Louis University, Xavier Hall, and Black Box Theater
$340/week
Teaching Artists: Hailey Medrano and Tyler White

These two unique weeklong sessions cover the fundamentals of acting, devising new work, and improvisation! Each camp experience includes opportunities to create original work and explore scripted scenes. Metro Theater Company and Saint Louis University provide a welcoming community for young actors to grow– regardless of their previous experience level. This camp consists of ensemble building, master classes (like stage combat), and scene work. Lunch is provided daily by SLU dining. There will be a performance that highlights what was explored throughout the week for family and friends on the last day of each session.

Extended care, morning: $25/week (8 to 9 am)
Extended care, afternoon: $25/week (4 to 5 pm)

*$10 discount for children of SLU faculty, staff, students, and alumni
*Sign up for all four weeks of Middle School Camp for a reduced fee of only $1,050

Grand Theater Camp: Advanced Acting

 

Campers entering 6th through 8th grades in Fall 2024
Tue-Fri, June 17-28, 9 am to 4 pm

*Please note, there will not be camp on Wednesday, June 19 in observance of Juneteenth.
Locations: SLU, Xavier Hall, Black Box Theater, and the Fabulous Fox Theatre

$565 (for full 2-week camp)
Teaching Artists: Hailey Medrano and Tyler White

Take your craft to the next level with this two-week course. Hone your audition technique, deep dive into scene work, and learn more about the professional theatre scene in St. Louis and beyond. Metro Theater Company and Saint Louis University invite advanced middle school students to explore acting, stage combat, movement, and more with professional theater artists! Campers will also participate in field trips to The Fabulous Fox Theatre and workshops with Metro Theater Company's staff. Attending Grand Theater Camp: Intro to Acting is suggested, but not required. Lunch will be provided daily by SLU dining. There will be a performance for family and friends on the last day of camp.

Grand Theater Camp:
High School

 

Campers entering 9th through 12th grades in Fall 2024
(Recent high school graduates welcome)

Mon-Fri, July 8-12, 9 am to 4 pm
Locations: SLU, Xavier Hall, Black Box Theater, and the Fabulous Fox Theatre
$340/week
Teaching Artists: Hailey Medrano and Tyler White

Metro Theater Company and Saint Louis University invite high school students to explore advanced acting, movement, improvisation, stage combat, and audition techniques with professional theater artists! Students will have access to SLU’s college level facilities as they create original work and perform scenes and monologues. Students will also attend workshops with Metro Theater Company's staff. All skill levels are welcome. Lunch will be provided daily by SLU dining. There will be a performance for family and friends on the last day of camp.

Creative Arts Camp

 

Campers entering Pre-K through 5th grades
Mon-Fri, July 22-26, 9 am to 3 pm
Mon-Fri, July 29-August 2, 9 am to 3 pm
Location: New City School, 5209 Waterman Boulevard, St. Louis, MO 63108
$260/week

Creative discovery is what it’s all about as the arts disciplines blend together. Campers enjoy fun-filled days exploring drama, visual art, creative movement and music with professional teaching artists. Children share highlights of their week each Friday afternoon with family and friends. Creative Arts Camp is a great place to make new friends, build self-confidence and nurture imagination.

*Campers must be 4 years old by July 22, 2024 to participate.
*Early care and extended day are provided through New City School. Early care begins at 7 am and is free for campers. Extended day ends at 6 pm and costs $100/week.
