We asked Rachel a few questions about theater, Metro Theater Company, the performing arts, and more.
What do you enjoy about theater or theater for young audiences?
I have always enjoyed watching theater, but seeing the impact it has on my five year old daughter is what I enjoy most today. She loves watching live performances and re-enacting what she sees. She loves to sing, dance, and entertain.
How did you get involved with MTC?
Coleen introduced me when she first became a part of the board. Describe a favorite MTC memory or moment. This summer my daughter watched In my Granny’s Garden. She really enjoyed caring for the seed she brought home and telling the rest of the family about the show.
Why are the performing arts important for young people?
They can learn valuable lessons through the shows, also that theatre and art can be fun for everyone.
What are two fun facts about yourself?
I am a twin and I have a dream to someday live by the ocean.
If you could go back in time and tell your ten-year-old self something, what would you say?
To always be true to yourself and what makes you happy. Don’t be afraid to step off the path that seems right and safe to achieve your goals.
