This past summer, seven community leaders, including Sarah Richmond, joined Metro Theater Company’s Board of Directors. We are excited to shine a spotlight on Sarah so you can get to know her!

What do you enjoy about theater or theater for young audiences?
I love taking my kids to the theater! Watching the animation on their face when they engage in the story is magical. I also appreciate the strong life lessons that exude throughout the performance and make a lasting impression.

Describe a favorite MTC memory or moment.
I attended my first virtual gala with MTC! Not only was I inspired by learning more about their accomplishments and vision for the future, the evening fostered a fun night for my family. I was quite impressed with the creativity and coordination of the event!

How did you get involved with MTC?
I learned about MTC from a colleague who is currently a board member. I am looking forward to getting more involved in upcoming events, such as A Christmas Carol!

Describe something that you've learned during the pandemic.
I have learned that simple pleasures in life should be appreciated more. I have spent more time enjoying the quieter moments at home, such as organizing closets, drinking tea, burning more candles, and spending time with my family. The extra time that my kids had to enjoy authentic time to play was cherished. The creativity, problem solving, resilience, and collaboration abilities they developed and demonstrated through those unstructured moments was a delight to observe. Allowing for natural opportunities to develop these life skills is a lesson for all of us!

What are two fun facts about yourself?
I grew up in St. Louis with four siblings, one of whom is my twin sister. I am married and have two school age children. I enjoy my job, working out, and spending time with my family and friends.

If you could go back in time and tell your ten-year-old self something, what would you say?
I would tell my ten-year-old self to spend more time reading, enjoy every stage of life for its unique experiences, and to make helping others part of your daily life.
